Homemade Candied Almonds

I'll never forget when I was younger my parents would take my sisters and I to the Wisconsin State Fair every year.

During the day we would walk around and see the animals and then later at night we would go to the rides and play games.

The best part about State Fair was the food! You could get anything from regular food to exotic types of food such as the ostrich burger. Both of my parents tried the bison and ostrich one. I still remember the disgusted face I made when they told me what it was. The one food I always had to get were the candied coated almonds! They were my ultimate favorite. I could literally smell them a mile away. The crunchiness, sweetness, warmness from the cinnamon, everything came together so well and my taste buds were instantly dancing. The sad thing was, I had to wait til next year to get more. They're not sold anywhere else and usually they can be a bit pricey. A small bag would've cost you about $3 and big bag $5 for maybe a scoop more.

But if you're just like me and can't wait a whole year just to have those savory nuts, I have a solution for you! Homemade candied cinnamon roasted almonds.

I found this great and easy recipe for them.

Of course, you could use any kind of nuts but I chose almonds because they are my favorite.

All you need is:

- Any kind of nut(s) that you like
- Brown sugar, I used light brown sugar that was the only thing i had
- Cinnamon, salt and water

(insert pic 2)

Mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, salt and water and bring to a boil.

Next, dump in your nuts and give them a good stir.

Constantly stir them until the liquid evaporates and they should start to look like this:

Once the liquid is all gone, place the nuts on a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Bake in over at 350 degrees for 10 minutes!

Almost done!

Once they are done, take them out and cool completely, about 25-30 minutes

When they're cooled, break up the nuts using a spatula or break off pieces and place in a ziploc baggy to help separate the nuts and enjoy your candied cinnamon roasted nuts!

Happy Eating!
